Rest days are vital to the success of your fitness routine. We have written about it many times in the past, here, here, and even here! But, what we have not done yet is laid out a rest day for you. So, sit back, my friends! We are about to dive into a rest day at Chuze Fitness.
Chuze Cinema
There are a few ways to enjoy a rest day, one way you allow yourself to completely rest and recover. The other, you remain active with a light workout while also allowing your muscles to repair like they need to. And, if you choose an active rest day, the Chuze Cinema may be one of the best places to start! Find out what time movies are playing at your location, come on in, set your treadmill to a brisk walk (3 – 4 mph), and enjoy a cinematic adventure. Walking is a low-impact exercise that can do wonders for your body and also your mind, plus if you stay on the treadmill a little longer than expected like the member below, you may find that you walked several miles without ever even realizing it!
HydroMassage
After your walk (or if you are choosing a complete rest day, start here), head over to the HydroMassage lounge. HydroMassage is a convenient, dry, full body massage that utilizes pressurized water to provide you with a comforting massage. Depending on the design you will either lie or sit down on the chair, fully clothed, and feel pressurized jets stream up and down your body for a full-body massage. The chairs or beds are easily customized to put pressure where you specifically need it most, which—on a rest day especially—is a perfect option. Massages help to release lactic acid and other toxins which get trapped inside of your body, they can also help to knead out any knots you may have gotten during your training.
Sauna
Now that you are feeling relaxed and all of your knots are ironed out, it is time to enjoy the far infrared sauna. Infrared saunas are great for detoxification, stimulating collagen to help with anti-aging, boosting the immune system, helping with circulation, and, amongst many other benefits, helping you relax. Spend about 15 minutes in the sauna to quiet your mind, focus on how you feel, and enjoy the natural healing powers of the sauna. Make sure that you bring a towel and a bottle of water to stay hydrated and wipe the sweat from your brow. Once you finish your session, a cool shower is a great way to rinse off and bring your body temperature back while closing up your pores.
Steam Room
If you are not a fan of saunas or are still craving the power of steam, head to our steam room. Steam rooms can help to beautify us from the inside, out by opening our pores and acting as a natural cleanser for your skin. It can even help to alleviate symptoms of a cold, asthma, or allergies, and helps to ease muscle soreness. But, as with the sauna, make sure that you stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water before, after, and during your session to make sure that you do not dehydrate.
Kids Club
You may be thinking, “All of this sounds great, but there is no way that I will be able to step away from the kids for an hour.” Well, we’ve got you covered! Drop off your kids (6 months to 12 years old) in our state-of-the-art Kids Club and let us provide a fun and safe place for your child to stay while you enjoy some “me” time in the club.
There are plenty of ways that you can have a rest day at Chuze Fitness, like enjoying a yoga class, swimming a few laps in the pool or relaxing your body at our gyms with hot tubs. Cater your rest day to you, but please make sure to rest. Your body will thank you and you will get the results you want faster by allowing your muscles to rebuild. What is your ideal rest day?
