Holiday Gift Guide for the Chuze Member

Published: 11/10/14

If you managed to stay on the “nice” list this year (or even if you pulled a little “naughty”), there are lots of great gifts to put on your wish list for this holiday season. Chuze members have so many different classes and fun opportunities to get fit, and these gifts allow you to take full advantage of each and every one of them. Hang up that stocking — great gifts are headed your way!

A Great Pair of Athletic Shoes

Whether you’re pumping iron or cycling or rocking it at zumba class, a great pair of athletic shoes is essential. When possible, choose a shoe that’s suited to your particular sport, such as running or kickboxing. Get a professional to size you, and look for a shoe that offers good arch support. Good athletic shoes help prevent injuries and align your lower body at the right angle to maintain proper form during exercise. Replace shoes when the cushioning and support begins to break down, or if the shoe has cracks, tears, or no longer fits properly.

A Quality Yoga Mat

Most people start out with inexpensive equipment, just in case they don’t enjoy the program. But once someone decides to stick with an activity such as yoga or Pilates, it’s time to invest in better equipment that will offer solid support and last longer. Yoga and Pilates lovers can benefit from the additional support offered by a quality mat. Cotton is better than latex because of all the sweating involved. Look for one with ample cushioning that doesn’t slip around the floor during exercise.

Training Gloves for Kickboxing

Kickboxing is one of the most fun ways to get fit, and also teaches valuable self-defense skills. A good pair of training gloves is essential for getting the most out of kickboxing class. Both men’s and women’s gloves are available, so you can get a well-sized glove for any size person. Look for good knuckle padding, breathable fabrics, and a comfortable fit.

A Variety of Fitness Ball Sizes

The right size fitness ball is critical for spinal health. As a person develops strength and balance, different size balls are needed to progress. Fitness balls come in a variety of sizes, and a regular user can benefit from having a good selection to work out with. Larger stability balls are great for floor exercises, while smaller balls are excellent for upper body exercises.

A Set of Kettlebells

Kettlebells are taking off in a huge way, and Chuze offers fun and invigorating kettlebell classes to elevate your fitness routines to new heights. Kettlebells come in many sizes, and kits are available that offer several sizes for one low price. Regular kettlebell exercisers need a good selection so they can up the weight as they progress, and so that they have an adequate weight for each type of exercise. Look for kettlebells that offer a comfortable rubberized grip.

Hula Hoops

Hula hoops are another fun and interesting way to get in shape, and Chuze offers a Hot Hula Fitness class that gives exercisers a great cardio workout in addition to toning major muscle groups like the abdomen. A hula hoop is inexpensive and lasts for a long time if taken care of. Hooping is an excellent core exercise, improving mobility, strength, and balance. Not only does hula give a great workout, it’s also perfect preparation for other sports that require lots of core strength, like golf and volleyball.

Every Chuze member has something special on this list! Maybe you should get a bigger stocking.
